OLATHE, Kan. — MidAmerica Nazarene University (MNU) has officially named Jose Ramos as the Head Coach of the Women's Soccer program, removing his interim title after a successful tenure leading the team. The decision, announced to the team on Tuesday, comes after a thorough search process in which Ramos emerged as the ideal candidate to lead the program into the future.
"I am thoroughly excited to have Jose Ramos as our next Head Women's Soccer coach, leading the program into the future," said Todd Garett, MNU Director of Athletics. "Since Jose's installment as the interim head coach, he has proven the intangibles that make a great head coach are embedded within his skill set. Jose's knowledge of the collegiate soccer landscape and his experience leading our recruitment efforts are proven assets that will positively lead our women's program forward. His contribution to the program's most successful year on record in 2024-25 are further influencers that make him the ideal choice for us. His ability to engage, inspire, and challenge our athletes both on and off the pitch are strengths that will add to the positive culture that is already in place within the program. In addition, his passion for MNU, partnered with his desire for our athletes to develop and grow in their relationship with Christ, are anchors that are necessary to successfully lead our program forward."
Ramos, a familiar face within MNU Athletics, has spent the last four years with the program, serving as an assistant coach before stepping into the interim role. During his tenure, he played a significant role in leading the Pioneers to their most successful season in school history, culminating in a deep postseason run in 2024-25.
His coaching background includes experience with the Kansas City Comets, as well as a collegiate playing career with MNU. His ability to connect with players, recruit top talent, and build a competitive culture has been evident throughout his time with the program.
Ramos expressed gratitude for the opportunity to take the next step in his coaching career.
"I'm truly at a loss for words to express how grateful I am for this incredible opportunity," said Jose Ramos. "I can say without a doubt that I'm beyond blessed to lead the program that has given me so much over the last four years. First, I want to thank God for preparing me for this moment. I'm also incredibly thankful to my wife, Megan, for her constant support throughout this process. A big thank you to the previous Head Coach, Bryce McClanahan, for guiding me and showing me what it means to be a head coach. I'm grateful to Todd Garett and the entire athletic department for believing in my vision and for their genuine care for the program. To the MNU Community, it's my time to give back to the place I've been lucky enough to call home away from home. You can expect nothing but discipline, dedication, belief, and passion from me."
With Ramos at the helm, the Pioneers Women's Soccer Program looks to build on its record-breaking 2024-25 season and continue its upward trajectory in the coming years.
