Pioneers Close Season with 2-0 Loss

Box Score
MNU's historic season came to a close with a 2-0 loss vs. #11 LSU-Shreveport at the Opening Round in Montgomery on Thursday. The Pilots brought a run home in the second inning on a squeeze bunt, and that was all they would need. LSU-S starter Caleb Olson allowed just 4 singles in a complete game shutout, and the Pioneers could not capitalize on the few opportunites they had. In the top of the third, 3 hit batsmen and a walk did not result in a run for MNU as a runner was caught stealing. LSU-S scored again in the fifth, and MNU left the bases loaded again in the sixth. The final 9 Pioneers were retired in order, and the Pioneers were eliminated. Carlos Vargas (2-4) was the only player for either team to record 2 hits.

MNU ended the season 37-15 - the second highest win total in program history (38 in '12) - to go along with their first HAAC title since 1984, their first HAAC tournament title, and their first appearance at Nationals.
