The Pioneers ran into some tough pitching and were bounced from the conference tournament on Wednesday. In the first game vs. Evangel, the Crusaders' Blake McKnight and MNU's
Kyle Olson each allowed just 3 singles in their respective complete games. But Evangel was able scratch across 2 runs while MNU managed just 1 and the Pioneers fell.
In the night game vs. Central Methodist, the MNU defense committed 3 errors in the first 2 innings which led to 6 unearned runs. The offense couldn't get the Pioneers back in the game and CMU added single runs in the fifth and sixth to take an 8-0 lead. With 1 out in the bottom of the eighth, the much-anticipated storm arrived and washed out the remainder of the game. The game was completed on Friday and the Pioneers managed a single in the eighth but couldn't make the miracle comeback, falling 8-0.
The Pioneers finished the season with a record of 24-20.
