The Pioneers got a huge road sweep at Benedictine on Friday. MNU is currectly tied with Peru State atop the HAAC West and both teams have 2 games remaining.
In Game 1, the Pioneer offense came to life and scored in each of the first six innings.
Clayton Brandt got things started with a 2-run homer in the bottom of the first, and MNU caught fire.
Josh Greer led off the second with a solo shot, and Brandt doubled and scored in the third. The Pioneers picked up an unearned run in the fourth, and Brandt doubled and scored again in the fifth. The Pioneers poured it on in the sixth with back-to-back homers from Greer and
Colin Starr to put MNU up 9-1.
Kyle Olson completed the game for his 8th victory. And
Clayton Brandt (3-4, 3 R, 2 2B, HR, 2 RBI, SB),
Tyler Meeks (2-3, 2B, RBI, SF),
Joe Smith (2-3, 2 R, SB),
Josh Greer (2-3, 2 R, 2 HR, 3 RBI), and

In Game 2, the Pioneers took advantage of 2 Raven errors in the second inning to score 3 runs. The inning was highlighted by a 2-out 2-run double from
Ricco Moreno. In the fourth,
Clayton Brandt continued his hot hitting with an RBI single to put MNU up 4-1. The Ravens fought back with a run in the fourth and tied the game with a 2-run homer in the fifth. With the game tied at 4 in the top of the seventh,
Josh Greer led off with a hit by pitch and was sacrificed to second. After a wild pitch moved Greer to third,
Brad Law's single to the right side gave the Pioneers the lead.
Caleb Swartz slammed the door with 3 strikeouts in the bottom of the seventh for a victory in relief, and MNU completed the sweep. Swartz struck out 4 in 2 innings for his 5th victory. And

Ricco Moreno (1-3, 2B, 2 RBI, BB), and
Clayton Brandt (1-1, RBI, 3 HBP) led the offense.
