Highlights | MNU split their 6th straight double header after a pair of thrilling games on Friday. In Game 1, Baker took a 2-0 lead in the first after a 2-out 2-run single.
Ricco Moreno's sacrifice fly cut the lead in half in the bottom of the inning, and a
Dillon Moeller sac fly in the third tied the game at 2. The game remained tied at 2 into the tenth inning thanks to several great MNU defensive plays combined with several questionable baserunning choices. Baker finally broke through with 2 runs in the top of the tenth, but
Dillon Moeller's 2-out 2-run single tied the game at 4 in the bottom of the inning. Baker scored again in the eleventh on a sacrifice fly, and MNU could not match them in the bottom to fall 5-4.
Kyle Olson struck out 9 in 7 innings for a no-decision. And
Dillon Moeller (3-4, R, 3 RBI, SB, SF) had 3 of MNU's 6 hits.
In Game 2, Baker scored in the first inning but MNU tied it in the bottom of the first on a
Tyler Meeks RBI single. Baker took a 2-1 lead in the second after
Clayton Brandt hurt his knee on a grounder, leading to an error, an unearned run, and the loss of MNU's shortstop and leadoff hitter. The Pioneers tied the game in the fourth with a
Kyle Brown 2-out RBI single, but Baker scored again in the fifth to take a 3-2 lead. In the bottom of the sixth,
Kyle Brown reached base on an error with 2 outs, and
Colin Starr took advantage with a game-tying RBI double. Tommy Mark, who'd replace
Clayton Brandt after the injury, drilled a double to right-center to give MNU a 4-3 lead.
Trent Hedlund closed out his start for a complete game victory. And Tommy Mark (2-3, 2B, RBI),
Tyler Meeks (1-1, R, RBI, 2 HBP),
Kyle Brown (1-3, R, RBI), and
Colin Starr (1-3, 2B, RBI) led the offense.
MNU is 17-15 (10-6 HAAC). The two teams play another double header on Saturday at noon.
