Pioneers Dominate Tabor

The MNU Women's soccer team had their first shut out of the season against Tabor College on Wednesday, beating the Bluejays 7-0. The game marked the second home game for the women's soccer team who now have a record of 2-0.

The Pioneers started off the game strong with a shot on goal just two minutes in. MNU was able to keep the pressure on the Bluejays when Ashton Bergh scored in the 20th minute, giving the Pioneers a 1-0 lead.

“We started to find a rhythm today which gave us a good pace and good tempo,” said head coach Skelly Kellar. “There is still another level that we need to find so we can play with more consistency.”

Kalyn Pfaff found the back of the net in the 24th minute off of an assist from Misty Olsen. The Pioneers went into halftime with a solid 3-0 lead after Olsen's first goal of the season.

Just 19 seconds into the second half, Bergh came up with her second goal of the game. The Pioneers continued to dominate the action while pressing the goal throughout the second half.

“I'm proud of our team defensive effort and drive to not give up a goal,” said Kellar. “It's only the second game of the season and we are going to continue to press on and get better with each practice and each game."

Kara Collins, Whitney Peavler, and Emmie Farrar all had goals, ending the game with a score of 7-0. Peavler and Olsen each ended the game a goal and two assists while Ashley Peter ended with one assist.

The Pioneers will host the MNU Classic this weekend with the first game kicking off Friday at 5:30 against Southwestern Christian University. Saturday's game will be at 1:30 against Bellevue University.
