The Pioneers went to #19 Avila for a 4-game series and lost 3 of them over the weekend.
Box and Play by Play In Game 1, the Pioneers rallied for 3 runs in the top of the fourth when
Timothy Barraza led off with a hit by pitch followed by a
Ben Alison single.
Josh Greer walked to load the bases, and
Alex Murrieta drove home 2 with a single. MNU scored on an error by the pitcher, and the Pioneers had a 3-0 lead. Aliva picked up 1 in the bottom of the inning, and the score remained 3-1 until the bottom of the sixth. Three hits by the Eagles combined with pourous MNU defense resulted in a 4-run inning to put the Pioneers down by 2. MNU couldn't manage anything in the seventh and Avila took the first game 5-3.

Box and Play by Play In Game 2, Avila jumped all over the Pioneers with 4 in the first and didn't stop scoring in a 16-1 drubbing.

Kyle Olson was brilliant in a 9-4 victory. Avila managed 2 runs in the first inning via some sloppy Pioneer play, but the Pioneers answered immediately in the top of the second.
Alex Murrieta led off with a double, and
Josh Greer's perfect bunt put runners on 1st and 3rd with no outs. After a
Colin Starr RBI single,
Kevin Liddle bunted and reached for a hit to load the bases.
Derek Glenn's 1-out single followed by
Kyle Segraves' sacrific fly capped a 3-run inning and the Pioneers never gave up the lead. Segraves hit a 2-run homer in the fourth, and MNU put up 1 in the fifth and 2 more in the seventh to win 9-4.
Kyle Olson scattered 5 hits and struck out a career-high 10 batters for a complete game victory. And
Derek Glenn (2-4, R, RBI, SB),
Kyle Segraves (1-2, R, HR, 3 RBI, BB, SF),
Alex Murrieta (2-4, R, 2B),
Josh Greer (3-3, R, 3 RBI, SF), and

Box and Play by Play In Game 4, Avila managed 2 in the first inning, 1 in the second, and another in the fourth to take a 4-0 lead as the MNU offense struggled to get going.
Ben Alison finally got the Pioneers on the board with a solo shot in the sixth, and one out later
Josh Greer matched it to get MNU within 2. Avila extended the lead with a run in the sixth, and the Pioneers couldn't get closer, falling 5-2.
