The Pioneers completed a 4-game sweep vs. Benedictine for Senior Day on Saturday to take the lead in the conference standings. Avila has been forced to sweep Baker to win the conference title.

Trent Hedlund kept the Ravens off the scoreboard until the seventh inning while the Pioneers built an 11-0 lead. MNU scored 1 in the second, 4 in the third, 3 in the fourth, and 3 in the fifth to build a huge lead as Hedlund was cruising. Benedictine managed a run with 2 outs in the seventh, but the Pioneers won 11-1. Hedlund struck out 6 for his 7th win. And

Derek Glenn (3-3, 2 R, 2 RBI, BB),
Timothy Barraza (2-4, 2 R, 2B, HR, 4 RBI), and

Box and Play by Play In Game 2, senior
Matt Netherton tossed a complete-game 4-hit shutout as the offense used one big inning to secure the victory. The game was scoreless until the bottom of the third when
Kevin Liddle led off with a walk and
Dillon Moeller's bunt went for a base hit.
Kyle Segraves followed with a bunt which was thrown away, allowing both runners to score and putting Segraves on 3rd base.
Derek Glenn singled to bring home Segraves, and one out later
Ben Alison kept it rolling with an RBI single. Alison moved to second on a wild pitch, stole third, and scored on an
Alex Murrieta sacrifice fly to give MNU a 5-0 lead. Neither team scored again and Netherton struck out 8 for his 5th victory.

The Pioneers are 38-12 (19-7 HAAC). The next game will be in the conference tournament starting on Wednesday at Phil Welch Stadium in St. Joseph, MO. Times and opponents will be determined.
Avila (17-7 HAAC) has two games remaining vs. Baker on Sunday (5PM) and Monday (TBA). If Avila wins both, they are the HAAC champs. If Baker wins either, MNU is the HAAC champ.
