The Pioneers took advantage of a Culver-Stockton team playing their 5th game in 2 days with a convincing sweep on Wednesday.
Box and Play by Play In Game 1, Culver-Stockton got on the board first with a solo homer in the top of the second inning. The Pioneer offense got nothing going with their first time through the lineup, but in the bottom of the third with 2 outs and runners on 2nd and 3rd,
Ben Alison nailed a 3-1 fastball over the left field wall to give MNU a 3-1 lead. Defending HAAC Player of the Week
Derek Glenn added to the lead in the fouth with a 2-run double to put MNU up 5-1, and
Colin Starr's homer to lead off the bottom of the 6th preceded a run-scoring error to put the Pioneers up 7-1. Starter
Kyle Olson pitched a scoreless seventh to complete his 3rd straight game for the victory. And
Derek Glenn (3-4, R, 2B, 2 RBI, SB),
Ben Alison (1-2, R, HR, 3 RBI, BB, SB), and
Colin Starr (2-2, R, HR, RBI, BB) led the offense.
Box and Play by Play In Game 2, the Pioneers scored 3 runs on 3 hits in each of the first 2 innings to take a 6-0 lead. Culver managed single runs in the fourth, fifth, and seventh, but the Pioneers kept scoring and won 11-3.
Tino Luna went the distance while striking out 10 for his 5th victory. And
