Pioneers Beat #1 OCU, Fall to Bellevue

Box and Play by Play | The Pioneers defeated #1 Oklahoma City for the second time, but fell to Bellevue in the second game of the day to finish the weekend 2-1. Against Oklahoma City, MNU rallied for 3 runs in the top of the 2nd inning to grab the lead. Pioneer lefty Tino Luna gave up 3 hits and a walk for 2 runs in the bottom of the inning, but that was it. Luna struck out 10 in 6 innings for the victory and Justin Huggins closed out the 7th for the save. MNU pushed across an insurance run in the 5th and took the game 4-2. Derek Glenn (4-4, 2 R, 2B, 2 RBI, SB) led the offense.

In the second game of the day, MNU found themselves trailing Bellevue 4-0 before they got on the board. Josh Greer got MNU into the scoring column with a 2-run double and later scored to make it a 4-3 ball game. But Bellevue put 3 runs across in the 6th to take control. Ben Alison's solo shot in the bottom of the 6th cut into the deficit, but it wasn't enough as MNU fell 7-4. Alison (1-2, 2 R, HR, RBI, BB) and Greer (1-3, R, 2B, 2 RBI, SB) led the offense.

The Pioneers are 3-2. The next double header is at home on Friday vs. Concordia (2-2) at 1:00.
