The Pioneers closed out the regular season with a 9-4 victory at William Jewell on Tuesday. MNU jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning when
David Hamlett tripled and
Ben Alison doubled. The score remained 1-0 until the bottom of the fifth when Jewell rallied with 2 outs to tie the game. The Pioneers answered with a huge sixth inning to take control of the game.
Kyle Segraves led off with a double and was followed by singles from Hamlett and
Tim Purdin. After a sacrifice bunt,
Jarid Renzelman picked up 2 RBIs with a single to right, and
Donnie MacLeod knocked in 2 more with a double. Dave Staton capped the scoring with a sacrifice fly, and MNU led 7-1. MNU scored twice more in the seventh, and Jewell answered with 3 in the bottom of the inning, but MNU held on for a 9-4 victory.
Kyle Olson (7-2) picked up his 7th win of the season. And
Kyle Segraves (2-4, 2 R, 2 2B),

Ben Alison (2-3, R, 2B, 2 RBI),
Jarid Renzelman (2-4, 2 RBI),
AJ Nunley (2-4, R), and

The Pioneers are 29-15 (19-9 HAAC). The 2-seed MNU will start the double elimination conference tournament on Friday at Phil Welch Stadium in St. Joseph, MO with a single 9-inning game vs. 5-seed Central Methodist (22-22, 16-12) at 3:30.
