Harrison Helms allowed no runs and struck out 5 on just 4 hits in 7 innings for a complete-game shutout vs. Missouri Valley on Wednesday. Both pitchers cruised through the first three innings, but MNU broke the game open in the bottom of the fourth.
Kyle Segraves led off with a bunt single and
AJ Nunley followed with a sacrifice.
Jarid Renzelman's single up the middle scored Segraves, and after a Dave Staton single,
Tim Purdin drove a pitch to the center field wall for 2 RBIs. The Pioneers kept hitting, and RBI singles by
Darrell Huffman and
Kevin Liddle finished off the 5-run inning. Helms silenced the Vikings the rest of the way, and MNU won 5-0.
