Pioneers Split vs. Ottawa

Game 1 Box | Game 2 Box Kayla Harris picked up another victory and Jen Polivka continued her hot hitting in Tuesday's double header split vs. Ottawa. In Game 1, the Pioneers jumped out to a 5-1 lead after 2 innings, but 5 MNU errors contributed to 7 Ottawa runs in the middle innings. The Pioneers plated a run in the 7th to close the gap, but they would fall 8-6.

Kayla Harris picked up the tough-luck loss in relief, allowing 3 unearned runs in the 5th. And Janessa Swinney (1-3, 2 R, HBP), Jen Polivka (1-3, R, 2B, 2 RBI, BB), Cait Gardner (2-4, 2 RBI), Brittany Williams (2-3, R, RBI), Jadalynn Cirillo (2-4, 2B), and Annie Duffner (1-1, R, 2 BB) led the offense.

In Game 2, Harris started went the distance while striking out 3 and scattering 7 hits. Jen Polivka's 4th homer of the season (a 2-run shot in the 1st) cleared the fence despite a prevailant howling wind, the the Pioneers led wire to wire. Harris allowed her only run of the ball game in the 6th, but the Pioneers answered right back in the bottom of the inning when Brittany Williams drove home Adrian Brown to put MNU back up by 2. Harris closed out the 7th for a complete game victory. And Jen Polivka's big game at the plate (2-3, R, HR, 2 RBI, SB) led the offense.

The Pioneers are 9-4. The next game is next Friday the 16th at Lindenwood at 1:00.
