The first half was ugly as both teams struggled to find rhythm. The Pioneers led 5-4 at the 17:38 mark before 5 minutes of scoreless basketball ensued. McPherson finally hit a bucket at 12:38 to break the drought, and the teams went into the half tied at 31.
The Pioneers dominated the second half, out-scoring McPherson 44-23 to build a 21-point lead with 3 minutes remaining. MNU cruised to the finish and recorded a 17-point victory. MNU held McPherson to 33.9% shooting while the Pioneers shot 50.9%.
