OMAHA, Neb. – MNU opened the 2026 season with a dominant 5-0 victory over College of Saint Mary on Saturday. The Pioneers outshot the Flames 23-0, put 17 shots on goal and finished with a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks.
MNU controlled possession from the start and generated 4 corner kicks in the opening 8 minutes, but the College of Saint Mary goalkeeper kept the match scoreless with several early saves. The Pioneers finally broke through in the 27th minute when Tindra Jarl scored off an assist from Maria Stumpf. Less than a minute later, Laura Ginguene converted a penalty kick to give MNU a 2-0 advantage.
The Pioneers added to the lead almost immediately after halftime. Mo Carnahan scored just 1:39 into the second half to make it 3-0. Jarl struck again in the 66th minute off an assist from Raquel Fernandez for her second goal of the match, and Maddie Lalman finished the scoring three minutes later off an assist from Carnahan.
MNU's defense did not allow a shot in the match, leaving goalkeeper Fiona Popetschnig untested while recording the shutout.

After controlling the opening 26 minutes without finding the net, MNU scored twice in a span of 56 seconds.
