OLATHE, Kan. – MNU delivered its most explosive offensive performance of the season Wednesday afternoon, overwhelming Saint Mary in a 24-4 rout.
MNU wasted no time setting the tone in the 1st inning. After Jaymal Bonilla struck out all 3 batters in the top of the inning, Jeremy Morales launched a 2-out 3-run homer in the bottom, giving the Pioneers an immediate 3-0 advantage. The early momentum carried into the 2nd inning when Ronnie Rowley added a 2-run blast, extending the lead to 5-2. Rowley crushed another 2-run shot in the 4th for a 7-3 lead, and the Pioneers erupted for 6 runs in the 6th, highlighted by a Morales 2-run double, a Noah Castillo RBI double, and a 2-run homer from Christopher Lugo.
MNU plated another 6 runs in the 7th inning, fueled by a 3-run homer from Jonathan Phillips and additional RBI hits from Cobin Stockstill and Wesley Taveras. The Pioneers added 4 more runs in the 8th to cap a 17-run surge over the final three innings.
