BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – #3 MNU opened conference play with a huge 1-0 road win over rival #13 Baker on Saturday night.

The lone breakthrough came in the 31st minute, when forward Vladimir Buljan slotted home a finish off a setup from Antonio Mugica. That was enough for MNU's back line and goalkeeper Tobias Stirl, who delivered four saves to keep the clean sheet.

Baker outshot the Pioneers 12-11, including a late surge in the second half, but Stirl and the defense stood tall. MNU held a 6-3 edge in corner kicks and stayed ahead despite committing 20 fouls and seeing two yellow cards.

The win extended MNU's unbeaten run to five matches to start the season and marked its second consecutive shutout.

Turning Point
Buljan's strike in the 30th minute gave the Pioneers the lead.
