OLATHE, Kan. – A balanced attack and airtight defense lifted #3 MNU to a commanding 4-1 win over Central Methodist on Wednesday at the Garmin Olathe Soccer Complex.

The Pioneers controlled possession early and were rewarded in the 29th minute when David Stoklasek netted his first goal of the season, assisted by a Noa Perez corner. Just before halftime, Gabriel Fernandes doubled the lead with a strike in the 43rd minute, sending MNU into the break up 2-0.

The momentum carried into the second half as Jeremie Pelade slotted home a goal in the 52nd minute off a Tom Chartier assist. CMU pulled one back two minutes later, but MNU answered emphatically in the 71st minute when Antonio Mugica scored his third goal of the year, finishing off a sequence created by Josh Hodgson and Ferdi Hagen.

The Pioneers dominated the stat sheet, outshooting CMU 18-5 and forcing the Eagles into 12 fouls. Tobias Stirl made two saves in goal while his backline limited CMU to just one quality chance in each half.

Turning Point
Gabriel Fernandes' goal just before halftime proved to be the game winner.
