Pioneers Earn Road Shutout

The Basics
Score: MNU 1 – Benedictine 0
Record: MNU (6-0-2, 3-0-1), Benedictine (5-2-1, 2-2-0)
Location: Atchison, Kan. - Legacy Field

ATCHISON, Kan. – No. 2 MNU men's soccer stayed unbeaten with a gritty 1-0 road victory at Benedictine on Wednesday night. Jeremie Pelade's first-half strike in the 27th minute proved decisive, and the Pioneer defense held firm under heavy pressure to secure the shutout.

MNU generated just eight shots compared to 18 for Benedictine, but the Pioneers made their limited opportunities count. Pelade latched onto a feed from Antonio Mugica and buried the lone goal of the match.

Goalkeeper Tobias Stirl was outstanding, stopping four shots and organizing a backline that withstood a barrage of second-half chances. Benedictine rattled the crossbar in the 62nd minute and forced Stirl into multiple diving saves down the stretch, but MNU's composure saw the match out.

Turning Point
Pelade's finish in the 27th minute gave the Pioneers the cushion they needed, allowing them to play organized and absorb Benedictine's pressure the rest of the way.
