PARKVILLE, Mo. – MNU dropped both games of a doubleheader against Park on Friday, falling 5-4 in a close opener before being shut out 2-0 in Game 2. In Game 1, MNU fell behind early, as Park put up two runs in the first and added three more in the third, highlighted by a three-run homer. The Pioneers battled back with a three-run fourth, capitalizing on a sacrifice fly, an RBI single from Robin Todd, and a well-executed bunt from Danica Hobbs to bring the score to 5-3. In the seventh, MNU made a late push with an RBI single from Kelly Stoakes, but ultimately fell just short.

Game 1 Turning Point
Park's three-run homer in the third gave Park a lead MNU couldn't overcome.

Game 1 Individual Leaders
Mandy Brown tossed 3.2 innings of 1-hit scoreless relief. And Danica Hobbs (1-3, R, RBI, SB, Sac), Kelly Stoakes (3-4, 2 2B, RBI), Brie Manwarren (0-2, R, RBI, SF), and Robin Todd (1-3, RBI) drove in runs.

In Game 2, MNU had plenty of opportunities but couldn't push a run across. The Pioneers outhit Park 9-8 but stranded seven runners on base. Park scored on an RBI double in the first and an RBI single in the third, which proved to be enough. Despite a strong complete-game effort from Grace Berlage in the circle, MNU was unable to capitalize offensively.

Game 2 Turning Point
Park's 1st inning run proved to be the game winner.

Game 2 Individual Leaders
Grace Berlage was solid in a complete game loss. And Robin Todd (3-3, 2B) and Elayna Goff (2-3) had multi-hit games.

Up Next
The next double header is Saturday at #6 Central Methodist (16-4, 0-0) at 1:00/3:00.
