SIOUX CENTER, Iowa – MNU picked up its first win of the season with a 5-2 victory over Mount Marty on Thursday. The Pioneers rallied late, scoring three runs in the seventh inning to seal the win.

Mount Marty struck first in the bottom of the first with an RBI triple. MNU responded in the third when Kelly Stoakes singled home Maddie Brooks to tie the game. The Pioneers took their first lead in the fifth after an RBI single from Abby Schulte.

After Mount Marty evened the score in the sixth, MNU delivered in the clutch. Elayna Goff's two-run double in the seventh gave MNU a 4-2 lead, and Aariana Paprocki added an insurance run with a sacrifice bunt. Pitcher Mandy Brown went the distance, striking out 11 while allowing just four hits in the complete-game win.

In Game 2, Midland scored in each of the first five innings, including a four-run fourth that put the game out of reach.
