PARKVILLE, Mo. – The Pioneers upset 14th-ranked Park in a thrilling four-set match on Friday night. The Pioneers took the first set 25-20, but Park responded with a 25-19 victory in the second. MNU then dominated Set 3, winning 25-14, before closing out the match with a hard-fought 25-23 victory in the fourth set.
MNU's balanced offensive attack and stout defense were key to the win. The Pioneers hit .240 as a team, led by Avery Lowe's 17 kills, while holding Park to a .158 hitting percentage. Katrina Davis orchestrated the offense with 52 assists and added 10 digs, while Mia Olson was efficient with 14 kills on a .417 hitting percentage.
Turning Point
The match swung in MNU's favor during the third set. After splitting the first two sets, the Pioneers surged to a 14-5 lead in Set 3 and never looked back.
