Pioneers Fall at Taylor

UPLAND, Ind. - 3-seed MNU fell to 2-seed and host Taylor 10-2 in the Opening Round on Monday. The Trojans jumped in front in the 1st inning by loading the bases with no outs. A sacrifice fly and a double plated 3 runs, and MNU was in an early hole. In the top of the 4th, a Joshua Martinez sac fly made it 3-1, but Taylor blew it open with 3 homers in the 5th inning for a 7-1 lead. A Kristian Crespo RBI single in the 7th saw the Pioneers down by 5, but the Trojans again rallied for 3 in the 8th to win 10-2.

Taylor's 3-run 1st inning proved to be enough.

Joshua Martinez (1-3, RBI, SF), Sean Maple (2-4, R), Drew Woodley (2-4, 2B), and Kristian Crespo (1-3, RBI) led the offense.
