Pioneers Split at Benedictine

ATCHISON, Kan. - The Pioneers split a double header at Benedictine on Thursday. In Game 1, the Pioneers got on the board in the top of the 3rd when Cordelia Hanger walked with 1 out and was bunted to 2nd for the second out. Kelly Stoakes followed with a single up the middle, and MNU took a 1-0 lead. An error in the top of the 4th turned a potential double play into a 2-0 MNU lead, and Mykala Johnico worked around 7 walks to hold the Ravens to a single run. An RBI groundout in the 5th was all Benedictine could muster, and MNU took Game 1.

Game 1 Turning Point
The Raven's error in the 4th proved to be the difference.

Game 1 Individual Leaders
Mykala Johnico got the win with a complete game 1-hit outing. And Kelly Stoakes (3-3, RBI) had 3 hits.

In Game 2, the Ravens jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st, then blew the game open with a 5-run 3rd. MNU scored single runs in the 4th, 5th, and 6th, but Benedictine held on to win 8-3.

BC's 5-run 3rd put the game away.

Game 2 Individual Leaders
Brie Manwarren pitched 2.2 innings of scoreless relief. And Nyah Brown (2-4, R, 2B, RBI) and Dez Duncan (1-2, R, RBI, SF) led the offense.
