LAMONI, Iowa - The Pioneers split a double header at Graceland on Friday. In
Game 1, MNU couldn't get any offense going and were held scoreless into the 7th. Graceland managed a solo homer and a 2-run shot to take a 3-0 lead, but the Pioneers threatened in the top of the 7th.
Abby Schulte led off with a double, and
Dez Duncan drove her home with 2 outs to bring the go-ahead run to the plate. Graceland found the final out, however, to win the opener 3-1.
Game 1 Turning Point
Graceland's 2-run homer in the 6th proved to be the game winner.
Game 1 Individual Leaders
Mykala Johnico struck out 7 in 6 innings in the loss. And
Dez Duncan (2-3, RBI, SB) had 2 hits.
In
Game 2,
Mandy Brown struck out 9 in a 2-hit complete game shutout, and the Pioneer offense came to life in the top of the 3rd. With 2 outs,
Kelly Stoakes singled home
Cordelia Hanger to take the lead, and
Abby Schulte followed with a 2-run homer for a 3-0 advantage. In the top of the 7th, the Pioneers rallied for 4 more runs to take a big lead, and Brown finished her gem with a 1-2-3 7th to take Game 2.

Kelly Stoakes' RBI single in the 3rd was enough.
