KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Pioneers beat Mayville State 8-1 and lost to Bellevue 8-6 in extra innings on Monday. In Game 1, MNU scored in the bottom of the 1st for a 1-0 lead, and
Abby Schulte's 3-run homer in the bottom of the 3rd blew the game open. Three more scored in the 5th, and the Pioneers cruised to an 8-1 victory.

In
Game 2, MNU fell behind 3-0 in the 1st inning, but a 2-out 2-run single from
Cordelia Hanger closed the gap in the top of the 2nd. Bellevue scored 2 more in the bottom of the inning, but the Pioneers fought back in the 5th. An
Abby Schulte RBI triple was followed by a
Robin Todd RBI single to make it 5-4, and a wild pitch in the 6th tied the game. The teams remained tied into the 9th, when MNU finally broke through with a single run. Bellevue tied it quickly in the bottom of the 9th, however, and a walkoff 2-run homer gave the Bruins the victory.
