OLATHE, Kan. – MNU pulled off a strong comeback to beat Park 2-1 on the road in a tightly contested match on Tuesday. Despite conceding an early goal, MNU responded with two second-half strikes, both from Rick Hovinga, to secure the victory. Hovinga's 55th goal moved him past Justen Wack for 2nd place on the all-time MNU career goals list. He trails Trent Remmich by just one goal.
Park opened the scoring in the 4th minute when Jacksyn McIntyre found the net, assisted by Julian Campos. MNU, however, regrouped after halftime, and Hovinga leveled the match just minutes into the second period, capitalizing on a blocked shot from Thomas Giraudo in the 49th minute. Ten minutes later, Hovinga struck again, this time assisted by Jose Munoz and David Stoklasek, giving the Pioneers a lead they would not relinquish.
Turning Point
Hovinga's second goal in the 60th minute put MNU ahead and shifted the momentum firmly in their favor, enabling them to fend off Park's pressure for the remainder of the match.
Individual Leaders
Rick Hovinga led the charge for MNU with both goals, while goalkeeper Lukas Bolzli made three critical saves to preserve the lead.
