OLATHE, Kan. – The 14th-ranked MNU Pioneers extended their unbeaten streak with a commanding 34-7 victory over Missouri Valley on Saturday afternoon at ODAC. MNU improved to 6-0 on the season, showcasing a disciplined performance on both sides of the ball.
MNU struck early with an 8-play, 65-yard drive, capped by a 10-yard touchdown pass from Adrian Parsons to Rahkeem Hamilton. The Pioneers' defense then came up big, with Elias Carson returning an interception 28 yards for a touchdown, putting MNU up 14-0 in the first quarter. Missouri Valley responded with a 13-yard rushing touchdown, but it was the last time they would score.
The Pioneers added to their lead just before halftime with a 1-yard touchdown pass to Myles Hymes. In the second half, Adrian Parsons connected twice more with Aiyo'n Carter for touchdown receptions, and the defense continued to dominate, holding Missouri Valley scoreless for the rest of the game.
"What a great victory," said head coach Paul Hansen. "I'm really proud of the team and how we handled the bye week. Once again our defense continues to show why they are one of the best in the NAIA. We will enjoy this win and get ready for another road trip to Missouri Baptist."
Turning Point
Elias Carson's second-quarter interception return for a touchdown helped MNU establish a two-score lead that Missouri Valley couldn't overcome. The Pioneers' defense ensured that the lead was never in doubt.
