ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The #13 Pioneers stayed unbeaten with a dominant 58-21 win over Missouri Baptist on Saturday night. MNU improved to 7-0, leveraging a high-powered offense and stingy defense that limited the Spartans' scoring until late in the game.
MNU opened the scoring with a 43-yard field goal by Trevor Highley and quickly extended their lead with a 44-yard touchdown pass from Adrian Parsons to EJ Rogers. Another field goal and multiple touchdowns from Shawn Cherry and Cameron Finley pushed the Pioneers ahead 27-0Â in the second quarter. Missouri Baptist managed two touchdowns before halftime but couldn't keep up with MNU's relentless pace.
The Pioneers continued their offensive surge in the second half, with Finley and Cherry each scoring another touchdown. Parsons connected with Myles Hymes on a 14-yard touchdown pass, putting the game well out of reach. Defensively, MNU held the Spartans to 269 yards and forced two interceptions, both by Maxwell Webber.
"We executed in all phases," said head coach Paul Hansen. "I'm proud of our discipline and how our team maintained focus on the road. Our defense stepped up again, and the offense capitalized on every opportunity."
Turning Point
The MNU defense stopped MBU on all 3 of their 1st quarter drives as the Pioneers built a 2-score lead.
