 Pioneers scored 32 points in the 4th quarter to force overtime in a 97-85 victory at Peru State on Wednesday. The game was tied at 15 after the 1st quarter, and Peru took a 5-point lead into halftime. The lead was pushed to 8 heading to the 4th, but MNU caught fire. Four 3-pointers and 7 free throws contributed to 29 points, but MNU still trailed by 3 in the final seconds.
Jordynn Gonzalez was fouled on a 3-point attempt with 2 seconds left, and hit all 3 free throws to tie the game. In overtime, the Pioneer defense dominated. Peru was limited to 1-8 from the field for 2 points, and MNU put up 14 points in 5 minutes to run away with it.
