 Pioneers hung with the defending national champions through 3 quarters, but came up short in a 65-60 loss to #4 Clarke on Saturday. Clarke led 18-13 after the 1st quarter, but the Pioneers fought back with a 15-12 2nd to trail by 2 at halftime. Clarke extended the lead to 5 heading to the 4th, then clamped on the defense in the final period to build a 14-point lead with 6 minutes left. With 1 minute left, Clarke led by 9, but 3-pointers from
Jordynn Gonzalez and
Bi'Anna Pettis cut into the deficit. After the Pride hit a layup and a free throw,
Madison Haney converted a 3-point play to get MNU within 1 possession. Clarke hit enough free throws to keep the lead, and MNU lost by 5.
Turning Point
Clarke's 12-1 run into the 4th quarter increased the lead to 14.
