OSKALOOSA, Iowa - The Pioneers split a pair of exciting games at William Penn on Saturday. In Game 1, the Pioneers jumped in front with a run in the 1st, but Penn's 2-out 2-run double gave them the lead. MNU scored 1 in the 3rd, 1 in the 4th, and 2 in the 5th to take a 5-2 lead. But Penn came back in the final innings. A run in the 6th closed the gap, and 2 more in the 7th tied it. In the top of the 8th, Londin Fiorella led off with a double, and Rilee Slycord followed with a single. Alli VanLanker's grounder resulted in a wild throw, and MNU took the lead. One out later, Cordelia Hanger slapped a ball by the third baseman for another run, and MNU held on to win 7-5.

Game 1 Turning Point
MNU's rally in the 8th won the game.

Game 1 Individual Leaders
Sarah Melodia struck out 3 in a complete game victory. And Cordelia Hanger (2-5, R, RBI, SB), Morgan Fouch (0-3, R, 2 RBI, HBP, SF), Kelly Stoakes (2-4, 2B, 2 RBI), and Londin Fiorella (3-4, 2 R, 2B) led the offense.

In Game 2, MNU trailed 7-3 headed to the top of the 7th, but the Pioneers fought back. Kaleigh Bayless led off with a pinch hit double, and Cordelia Hanger was hit by a pitch. A double play seemingly ended the rally, but Morgan Fouch walked and Kelly Stoakes doubled to bring the tying run to the plate. Abby Schulte drilled a game-tying homer, and the game moved to the bottom of the 7th. With 1 out in the bottom of the 7th with a runner on 2nd, a groundout was followed by an errant throw, and Penn won 8-7.
