Pioneers Swept at Baker

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - The Pioneers ran into #7 Baker and got swept in 2 close games on Friday. In Game 1, MNU scored in the top of the 3rd when Morgan Fouch doubled and Kelly Stoakes singled for a 1-0 lead. Baker was held scoreless until 2 outs in the bottom of the 5th. A hit batsman and a walk put 2 runners on base, and a 2-run double turned the game around. A solo homer in the 6th made it 3-1, and MNU dropped the first game.

The 2-out 2-run double in the 5th turned a deficit into a lead.

Morgan Fouch (2-3, R, 2B) and Kelly Stoakes (1-3, RBI) produced MNU's only run.

In Game 2, MNU faced freshman phenom Kira Baker, and she lived up to the hype. The Pioneers managed just 1 hit and struck out 10 times. MNU starter Hannah Etzel performed admirably, but a single run in the bottom of the 4th was the difference, and Baker won 1-0.
