Pioneers Fall in Double Overtime, Await At-Large Bid

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - The Pioneers lost in double overtime at Baker in the Heart Tournament quarterfinals on Thursday. MNU had a huge start and jumped out to a 27-6 lead after 10 minutes. The Wildcats closed the first half on a 22-4 run, however, and MNU took a 31-28 lead to the break. The second half was back and forth for 15 minutes, but Baker took a 7-point lead with 4 minutes remaining. The Pioneers used a 12-3 run to take a 2-point lead with just over a minute left, and Baker stopped the run with a game-tying jumper. Both teams were stopped in their final possessions, and the game went into overtime. Both teams scored 7 points in the first overtime, but Baker was able to pull away in the second overtime to win by 6.
