OLATHE, Kan. – MNU opened the 23-24 season with a tough victory over Missouri Baptist on Friday. The Spartans dominated the last 3 minutes of the 1st quarter, turning a 15-12 deficit into a 23-15 lead at the break. MNU won the 2nd quarter 20-12 to tie the game at halftime, then closed the 3rd on a 13-4 run to take an 8-point lead into the final period. MBU chipped away and closed the gap to 1, but 2 buckets by Arielle Sargent sandwiched a Bi'Anna Pettis 3-pointer to put the lead back to 8. The Pioneers maintained a multi-possession lead in the final minutes to claim a 6-point victory.

MNU's 7-0 run in the 4th pushed a 1-point lead to 8.

Individual Leaders
Lydia Ostenson had 15 points and 2 steals in 24 minutes off the bench. Allison French and Arille Sargent had 13 points apiece. Bi'Anna Pettis had 11 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals. And Kameron Green had 8 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 blocks.
