OLATHE, Kan. - MNU put up 54 points in the season-opening victory over Graceland on Saturday. The Pioneers got a stop on the game's opening drive, then Trevor Highley drilled a 45-yard field goal to put MNU up 3-0. Graceland was stopped on 4th down on their next drive, but MNU came up empty as well. The Yellowjackets went 62 yards in 4 plays for a 7-3 lead, but the Pioneers scored in 5 plays, recorded an interception, scored again in 4 plays, recorded a safety, and scored in 3 plays for a 26-7 lead early in the second quarter. The teams traded touchdowns for the rest of the half, and MNU took a 33-19 lead to the locker room. The Pioneers extended the lead in the second half and won by 22.

"That was a great team victory," said head coach Paul Hansen. "I am very proud of how hard the guys played for four quarters. We will enjoy this win and get ready for a really good Culver-Stockton team."

Turning Point
Cameron Finley's touchdown catch late in the first quarter put MNU up for good.

Adrian Parsons was 32-48 for 418 yards and 5 touchdowns. Shawn Cherry had 23 carries for 114 yards. Cameron Finley had 20 carries for 100 yards and 2 touchdowns, and 4 catches for 79 yards and another touchdown. Caleb Tanis had 11 catches for 117 yards and 4 touchdowns en route to breaking the All-Time MNU Touchdown Receptions record (Juan Redmon, 28, '08-'11). Paul Saint Louis had 9 catches for 140 yards.
