OLATHE, Kan. - MNU got swept by William Penn on Saturday. In
Game 1, the Pioneers rallied for 2 in the 3rd and 3 in the 5th for a 5-0 lead. The Statesmen picked up a run in the 6th, then started to rally in the 7th. Two singles and a walk loaded the bases with 1 out. A single made it 5-2, and a fielder's choice out at home was the second out. On a full count pitch, William Penn launched a go-ahead grand slam for a 6-5 lead. MNU didn't quit, and back-to-back doubles from
Londin Fiorella and
Allison Denges tied the game in the bottom of the 7th. Penn used a 2-out RBI single to take the lead again in the 8th, and the Pioneers couldn't tie it.
