FAYETTE, Mo. - The Pioneers won 3 of 4 at #9 Central Methodist over the weekend. In
Game 1, neither team threatened much offensively and the game was scoreless into the 6th. In the top of the 6th,
Dionathan Cornett drew a leadoff walk, and with 1 out,
Brycen Sherwood's drive over the right field wall was MNU's first hit and the game's first runs. The Eagles responded with a run in the 7th and the tying run was on base with 2 outs, but starting pitcher
Zach Trevino recorded the final out, and MNU won Game 1.
Game 1 Turning Point
Brycen Sherwood's go-ahead homer in the 6th was the game winner.
Game 1 Individual Leaders
Zach Trevino struck out 2 in a complete game victory. And
Brycen Sherwood (1-3, R, HR, 2 RBI) had MNU's only hit.
In
Game 2, neither team scored until a
Joshuan Sandoval RBI single in the 4th. CMU tied it in the bottom of the inning, and the score remained tied until the bottom of the 7th. A leadoff hit batsman was followed by an error on a bunt, and the runner came all the way around to score the winning run.

The walkoff error ended the game.
Game 2 Individual Leaders
Noah Castillo and
Devin Wagoner combined to strikeout 7 in the 2-1 loss. And
Brycen Sherwood (1-2, R, 2 BB) reached base 3 times.
In
Game 3, MNU jumped out to a 4-0 lead with 3 RBIs from
Dionathan Cornett and a solo homer from
Josh Torrance. The Eagles fought back and rallied to tie the game with a 4-run 5th inning. In the top of the 6th,
Joshuan Sandoval's 2-run homer put MNU up 6-4, and another Cornett RBI accounted for MNU's 7-4 win.
Game 3 Turning Point
Joshuan Sandoval's 2-run homer broke the tie.
Game 3 Individual Leaders
Eric Navarette struck out 6 in 4.1 innings.
Logan Burbach picked up the win in relief.
Nathan Torres earned his 10th save with 2 hitless innings. And
Joshuan Sandoval (1-4, R, HR, 2 RBI),
Josh Torrance (1-4, R, HR, RBI),
Randy Fernandez (3-4, 2 R, 2B),
Ryan Leo (2-4, 2 R, 2B),

In
Game 4, the Eagles jumped ahead with a 3-run 1st inning, but the Pioneers tied it in the 2nd and took the lead with a 4-run 3rd.
Josh Torrance extended the lead with a solo homer in the 5th, and
Dionathan Cornett capped an incredible double header with a 2-run homer in the 7th for an 11-6 victory.

MNU's 4-run 3rd put them ahead for good.

Kristian Hurtado struck out 4 in 6.0 innings for the win. And
Josh Torrance (2-4, 2 R, HR, RBI),
Randy Fernandez (3-3, 3 R, BB),
Ryan Leo (3-4, 3 R, 2 RBI),
