OLATHE, Kan. - The Pioneers took 3 of 4 from Baker over the weekend. In
Game 1,
Zach Trevino struck out 10 in a complete game 4-hit shutout, and
Drew Woodley homered to lead off the bottom of the 1st in a 3-0 victory.

Woodley's homer in the bottom of the 1st was all MNU needed.

In
Game 2, Baker jumped out to a 2-0 lead with 2 homers in the top of the 1st, but MNU responded with 5 runs in the bottom of the inning - highlighted by a 2-out 3-run shot from
Randy Fernandez. The Pioneers would not score again, however, and the Wildcats scored 4 in the 4th to take the lead. Baker recorded 6 homers in the game, and won 9-5.

In
Game 3, MNU jumped on Baker with a
Joshuan Sandoval 3-run homer in the bottom of the 1st, then tacked on 2 more in the 2nd for a 5-0 lead. Baker rallied for 3 in the top of the 5th, but
Josh Torrance's 3-run homer in the bottom of the inning put MNU back up by 5. The Pioneers rallied for 3 more in the 6th for an 11-3 lead, but Baker didn't go quietly in the 7th. Two talks and a hit batsman loaded the bases with 1 out, and 3 singles and an error forced MNU to bring in closer
Nathan Torres. An RBI groundout and a strikeout ended the game and the Pioneers held on to win 11-8.
Game 3 Turning Point
Sandoval's 3-run homer in the 1st set the tone.
Game 3 Individual Leaders
Eric Navarette struck out 4 in 5 innings for the win.
Nathan Torres got the final 2 outs for his 7th save of the season. And
Brycen Sherwood (2-4, 2 R, SB), Nick Castillo (2-3, R, RBI),
Joshuan Sandoval (2-2, R, HR, 4 RBI, HBP),
Ryan Leo (2-4, R, 2B, 2 RBI), and
Josh Torrance (2-4, R, HR, 3 RBI, SB) had big games at the plate.
In
Game 4, neither team scored until Baker crossed home on a wild pitch in the top of the 4th.
Brycen Sherwood tied it with a solo shot in the bottom of the inning, and
Noah Castillo's RBI double in the bottom of the 6th gave MNU the lead.
Nathan Torres relieved starter
Kristian Hurtado, and retired the Wildcats in order in the 7th to record his MNU single-season record 8th save of the season.
