Pioneers Sweep Baker

OLATHE, Kan. - MNU is 6-0 in the Heart after a double header sweep of Baker on Saturday. In Game 1, neither team scored until Baker pulled off a double steal in the top of the 5th for a 1-0 lead. MNU scored on a grounder in the bottom of the inning, but Baker recorded a 2-out 2-run single in the top of the 6th for a 3-1 lead. In the bottom of the 6th, Alli Vanlanker was hit by a pitch and Kaliegh Bayless followed with a single. One out later, Morgan Fouch singled home a run, and with 2 outs, Audrey Denges walked with the bases loaded to tie the game. In the bottom of the 8th, MNU had a runner at 3rd with 2 outs. A grounder to third seemingly ended the inning, but the fielder threw home, and Morgan Fouch slid around the tag to win the game.

Game 1 Individual Leaders
Sarah Melodia went the distance, striking out 10 in 8 innings for the win. And Alli VanLanker (2-3, R, SB, HBP) and Morgan Fouch (2-4, R, RBI) led the offense.

In Game 2, Rilee Slycord's 2-run homer in the top of the 2nd put MNU up 2-0, and her RBI single in the 4th made it 3-0. Baker got a run closer in the 5th with a solo homer, but MNU rallied for 5 in the bottom of the 6th to go up 8-1. Baker made some noise in the top of the 7th, but Alexis Wilds closed out her own start to preserve an 8-4 victory.

Game 2 Individual Leaders
Alexis Wilds struck out 7 in 6.2 innings for the win. And Cordelia Hanger (2-4, RBI), Kaleigh Bayless (2-4, 2 R), Emma Ryan (2-2, R, 2B, Sac), and Rilee Slycord (2-2, R, HR, 3 RBI, IBB) had 2 hits apiece.
