Pioneers Split With Benedictine

OLATHE, Kan. - MNU is 7-1 in the Heart after a double header split with Benedictine on Sunday. In Game 1, the Pioneers built a 3-0 lead heading to the top of the 6th. The Ravens got a run in the top of the 6th, then put runners on second and third with 2 outs in the top of the 7th. With 2 strikes, a double tied the game, and a bloop single gave Benedictine a 4-3 lead. MNU couldn't score in the bottom of the inning, and the Ravens took Game 1.

Game 1 Turning Point
The 2-out 2-strike 2-RBI double in the 7th tied the game.

Game 1 Individual Leaders
Sarah Melodia went the distance in the loss. And Kaleigh Bayless (1-4, RBI) and Londin Fiorella (1-3, R, RBI) drove in runs for MNU.

In Game 2, RBI singles from Londin Fiorella and Sirena Salazar put MNU up 2-0, and a 2-RBI double from Rilee Slycord made it 4-0. A Benedictine 2-run homer in the top of the 5th cut the lead in half, but Fiorella's 2-run homer put MNU back up by 4 in the bottom of the inning. The Ravens were unable to dent the plate again, and MNU salvaged a split.

Game 2 Turning Point
MNU's 3-run 3rd put the game out of reach.

Game 2 Individual Leaders
Alexis Wilds struck out 8 in a complete game victory. And Morgan Fouch (3-3, 2 R, 2B, BB), Rilee Slycord (2-3, R, 2B, 2 RBI, BB), and Londin Fiorella (4-4, R, HR, 3 RBI) had multi-hit games.
