OLATHE, Kan. - MNU won a touch 4-set match against McPherson on Wednesday. In the first set, McPherson got out to an 11-6 lead. But after a timeout, the Pioneers closed with a 19-9 run to win 25-20.
Jennifer Roth's huge serving run opened Set 2, and the Pioneers led 8-1. The Bulldogs fought back, however, and the set was tight throughout. The Pioneers fought off 5 Set Points, then finally won 3 straight points to win 31-29. Set 3 was similarly close, but the Bulldogs pulled it out with a 28-26 win. Set 4 was all MNU, and the Pioneers jumped out to a 17-4 lead and cruised to a 25-16 victory.
Turning Point
The Pioneers shrugged off a controversial ending to the third set to dominate Set 4.

McPherson recorded 15 more kills than MNU, but MNU had 8 more aces.
