FAYETTE, Mo. -Â MNU took #11 Central Methodist to the limit, but fell in 5 sets on Tuesday. The Pioneers took the first 2 sets by the scores of 25-16 and 25-23. The Eagles rallied to take the next 2 sets 25-21 and 25-19, and the match went to the 5th. The Pioneers took a 12-10 lead in the race to 15, but the Eagles took 5 of the next 6 points to win the match.
"CMU is a tough team," said head coach
Molly Karagyaurov. "They're currently ranked #11 in the country and have some big hitters! I loved to see the fight in our girls. We had a game plan and went and executed it well. Anytime you go up 2-0 then lose in 5 - it is heartbreaking. But taking that team like that to 5 at their place is big! I'm proud of the effort and the focus we showed. We will learn and look forward!
This is a really tough schedule on the road to start the conference this year. We have #11 CMU, RV Evangel, #4 Park, and #21 Grandview all on the road! Then William Penn on the road; who is really coming on lately.
We have to grind a little bit and show some maturity with our consistency and execution when it matters!"
