Pioneers Lose Back-and-Forth Contest

The Basics
Score: MNU 2 - Hastings 3
Record: MNU (0-3), HC (2-1)
Location: Hastings, Neb.

HASTINGS, Neb. - The Pioneers fell to 0-3 after a tough loss at Hastings on Saturday. The Broncos got on the board first with a goal in the 22nd minute. MNU answered in the 36th minute when Elvia Villagomez tied it. In the 57th minute, Emily Carrasco put the Pioneers in front, but Hastings tied it again in the 63rd minute. In the 79th minute, Hastings found the game-winner, and MNU couldn't tie it in the final minutes.

"It was a roller coaster of a game," said head coach Bryce McClanahan. "Credit to our ladies to show resiliency to come back from being down 0-1. We were able to string together two very good team goals. Unfortunately, we gave up two goals off corner kicks to lose the game in the second half. All in all, it was our most complete game, and I loved how our ladies possessed through the lines tonight. Together we committed to executing a game plan but came up just short. We'll continue to stay the course and persevere through a tough start to the season."

Turning Point
Hastings' goal in the 79th minute was the difference.

Individual Leaders
Elvia Villagomez and Emily Carrasco scored goals, and both were assisted by Jacque Schwager.

Up Next
The next match is Saturday at home vs. Briar Cliff (2-1) at 1:00.
