SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -Â MNU won a road conference match at Evangel on Saturday. Evangel was receiving votes in the national poll. The scores were 22-25, 25-18, 26-24, 25-22. Evangel took the first set, but the Pioneers evened the match with a late rally in Set 2. Set 3 was tight throughout, but MNU was able to build a 21-17 lead. Evangel came back and took a 23-22 lead, but 3 errors in the final 4 points gave the Pioneers a 26-24 win. Set 4 was also close as the teams were tied at 20, but MNU won the next 3 points to take control and win the match.
"It was an awesome day!" said head coach
Molly Karagyaurov. "That's the first time we have traveled their with our reserves. They got the win. And as for our varsity; that's a huge win. Evangel and us go back and forth year after year. And historically it's really hard for us to go win in their gym. But our girls showed us and executed! Evangel returned all their primary players and are an experienced team. I am proud of the girls! That could come back and end up being a very important win when it comes to the post season."
