OLATHE, Kan. - The Pioneers opened the season with a shutout loss to Southwestern Christian on Tuesday. In 100-degree heat and a strong south wind, the Eagles struck first with a goal in the 13th minute. Both teams had decent chances for the rest of the half, but the score remained 1-0 until the 86th minute, when SC put the game away with a second goal. "Tough result to start the season," said head coach Kevin Wardlaw. "We have a lot to work on but definitely have the guys to do it. The positives we take away from today are the number of players we were able to see play, many of them in their first MNU match."
