Pioneers Use Late Surge to Win 3-0

OTTAWA, Kan. - The Pioneers scored 3 second-half goals to beat Ottawa on Saturday. The match was scoreless into the 60th minute when MNU finally broke through. Nicolas Theberge found the back of the net on a Rick Hovinga assist to give MNU a 1-0 lead. In the 79th minute, Hovinga made it 2-0 on an assist by Mathieu Ecourtemer. Ecourtemer made it 3-0 just 2 minutes later, and the Pioneers evened their season record. "Good performance today from the guys," said coach Kevin Wardlaw. "A positive step forward and once again lots of players contributed. Now for a much-needed week to practice and continue getting better."

Turning Point
Theberge's goal in the 60th minute was the game winner.

Individual Leaders
Rick Hovinga and Mathieu Ecourtemer each had a goal and an assist. Nico Theberge recorded a goal. And Enzo Carvalho had 3 saves.
