Pioneers Split at Penn

OSKALOOSA, Iowa - The Pioneers split a double header at William Penn on Friday. In Game 1, the starting pitchers battled to a scoreless tie into the 7th. In the top of the 7th, Morgan Fouch led off with a single and Emma Ryan bunted her to second. After a flyout, Londin Fiorella doubled to bring home Fouch and MNU took the lead. Penn led off their half of the 7th with a single and a sacrifice bunt. But a line drive double play ended the game and preserved a 1-0 victory.

Game 1 Individual Leaders
Alexis Wilds struck out 8 in a complete game 5-hit shutout. And Cordelia Hanger (1-3, SB), Morgan Fouch (1-3, R), Audrey Denges (1-3), and Londin Fiorella (1-3, 2B, RBI) had MNU's 4 hits.

In Game 2, Penn jumped ahead with a 3-run homer in the bottom of the 1st, then added 2 more in the 3rd for a 5-0 lead. Emma Ryan's solo homer got MNU on the board in the 4th, and a Shelby Snelling RBI single in the 5th made it 5-2. But neither team scored again, and Penn salvaged a split.
