BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - The Pioneers were swept at Baker on Thursday. In
Game 1, Baker scored first with a run in the bottom of the 2nd, and MNU was held off the board until
Londin Fiorella doubled with 2 outs in the 4th, and
Emma Gordon brought her home. Baker took the lead again with 2 runs in the bottom of the 4th, and MNU needed to rally in the 6th.
Emma Ryan led off with a double, and
Audrey Denges drove in a run with another double. Two outs later with runners and second and third,
Hannah Tenberge knocked home the tying and go-ahead runs with a single. But in the bottom of the 6th with the bases loaded and 2 outs, a wild pitch scored the tying run, and the throw got away to bring home the go-ahead run. MNU got the tying run into scoring position in the 7th, but couldn't bring it home and Baker won 5-4.

Kaleigh Bayless (2-4),
Emma Ryan (2-3, 2B, BB), and
Hannah Tenberge (1-3, 2 RBI) had big games at the plate.
In
Game 2, MNU led 2-1 after a
Brianna Carter 2-run single in the 2nd, but the wheels fell off for the Pioneers in the bottom of the inning and Baker ran away with it. Six runs crossed in the 2nd, and single runs in the 3rd and 4th put the Wildcats up 9-2. A
Shelby Snelling 2-run double in the 5th accounted for the 9-4 final.
