Pioneers Fall Twice at Clarke

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Pioneers were swept at Clarke on Saturday. In Game 1, Clarke build a 6-0 lead after 5 innings to put MNU in a big hole. In the top of the 6th, Kaleigh Bayless doubled and scored on a groundout, and Audrey Denges hit a 2-run homer to cut the deficit in half. The Pioneers could get no closer, however, and fell 6-3.

Clarke's 3-run 5th put the game out of reach.

Game 1 Individual Leaders
Audrey Denges (2-3, R, HR, 2 RBI) and Brianna Carter (2-3) had 2 hits apiece.

In Game 2, MNU led 1-0 after the top of the 1st, but Clarke took advantage of a 2-out error in the bottom of the inning and rallied for 4 runs. The Pioneers scored 1 in the 2nd and another in the top of the 5th to close the gap. In the top of the 7th, Morgan Fouch led off with a triple and scored on an Emma Ryan game-tying single. But in the bottom of the 7th, Clarke loaded the bases with 1 out, and a walkoff single completed the double header sweep.
